Revital MADAR

Bio

Revital Madar est chargée de recherche F.R.S.-FNRS au REPI et au Centre de droit international (CDI). Politiste, elle étudie l'articulation entre le droit, la souveraineté et la violence, ainsi que la manière dont les démocraties libérales légitiment leur propre violence par des dispositifs réglementaires et administratifs. Son objet est le continuum qui mène de la violence ordinaire aux violences de masse, et la déshumanisation que le droit y opère. Elle a travaillé sur les procès d'agent·es des forces de sécurité en Israël, sur la narration de la mort politique en Afrique du Sud sous l'apartheid et sur la violence sexuelle liée aux conflits. Dans ces recherches, elle conduit un travail d'archives : les pièces judiciaires et les matériaux culturels y font l'objet d'une analyse critique de discours, dans une perspective féministe et anticoloniale.
Docteure de l'Université hébraïque de Jérusalem (2021), elle a ensuite été boursière postdoctorale du Programme Max Weber au Département de droit de l'Institut universitaire européen (IUE, Florence, 2021-2022). Elle a poursuivi son parcours à l'IUE en rejoignant le Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies comme lauréate d'une bourse Marie Skłodowska-Curie (2023-2026). Elle a également été chercheuse invitée au CERI (Sciences Po Paris), à l'IHEID (Genève) et à l'Université de Liège. Ses travaux ont notamment paru dans Identities et Conflict and Society, et son ouvrage Soldiers on Trial: Palestinian Bodies and Israeli Sovereignty est sous contrat avec Central European University Press.
