Présentation des enseignements

Critical Approaches to International Relations

This 18 hour course (Master 1. Sciences Po Bordeaux) presents the "critical" theories of IR, i.e. those theories relying on post-positivist / self-reflexive epistemology. This includes some feminist and Marxist approaches and (all) the post-colonial and post-modernist theories of IR.

The Politics of European Security

This 18 hour course (Master 2. Sciences Po Bordeaux, since 2012) explains how Western European Countries have conceived of their security since 1945. It shows that three faces of enmity succeded each other (with some overlaps) : the so called « German problem », « Soviet threat », and « Islamic terrorism ». The course takes a special focus on France, Britain and the West-Germany. It analyzes how those three countries tried to deal with the aforementioned security problems.

Présentation des recherches

My researches straddle the fields of critical peace studies and critical war studies. I am currently coordinating a research network on the representations of the enemy in current Western wars.
