A discussion between editors Mathias Delori (Sciences Po-CERI/CNRS) and Christian Olsson (REPI/ULB), alongside Chiara Ruffa (Sciences Po-CERI/CNRS) and Philippe Bonditti (ESPOL - Université Catholique de Lille - Institut pour la Paix).

This book analyses the French war on terror, covering the French contributions to the US-led "war on terror" and the wars in the Sahel Region since 2013. It argues that “terrorism” and “counterterrorism” are not distinct phenomena but rather two interrelated forms of violence. Contrary to official claims, France has not pursued a more humane or effective approach than its Anglo-Saxon counterparts; instead, it has repeated their mistakes. Uniquely, France adopted this militarized strategy in the mid-2010s—just as the US and Britain were recognizing its failures and shifting course. This book will appeal to students of critical terrorism studies, French politics, and International Relations.

This event will be conducted in both French and English. A drink will be served after the discussion.
