Bio

Valentin Bouttiau is a PhD candidate within the ERC research project PENEA, affiliated with the REPI at ULB. He holds a Master’s degree in Political Science (specialization in International Relations) from ULB, during which he specialized in the study of neo-corporatist mechanisms in Japan, and has professional experience in technological innovation.


Research Presentation

His doctoral research focuses on political economic nostalgia in Japan. By identifying, sizing, and conceptualizing the specificity of nostalgia in Japan, his work examines contemporary ties with the economic past in cultural productions and recent political proposals, where nostalgia works as a catalyst for mobilization, both at the individual level and in the formation of community projects.
